We recently bought a 2012 Kia Soul as a 2nd car (aka Hamster Car!). It's an awesome and truly fun ride, and we were so happy with our Kia experience. So when I found out about a new BlogHer campaign involving Kia, I wanted to be a part of it.
Another big contender when we were shopping for a new car was the 2012 Kia Sorento. My sister-in-law has one and loves it, and I know it's the perfect family car. It's sporty, but the interior has a lot of room for the family.
It also features all of the new advanced technology, such as the voice-activated UVO infotainment system and rear-camera display. (I looooove this feature! I have always worried about backing up into one of my kids, so this camera technology is great. Also, the UVO infotainment system is like nothing I've ever used before. I have loaded all of my iTunes songs from my iPod onto the jukebox feature of the system and now can listen to my songs whenever I'm in the car. You operate the system by voice commands, which means no searching for songs and being distracted while you're driving.)
The Sorento also has a push start, is Bluetooth ready, and comes with Sirius radio (for 3 months), which is hard to live without once you've have it!
What I REALLY like the most about the Kia Sorento is that the price for what you are getting is amazing: it starts at just over $23,000. For us, getting a good-quality vehicle with all of the bells and whistles and that starts at such a great price is the one of the key things we are looking at when vehicle shopping. I was seriously so impressed with all of the features at such a low cost. I'm not really used to that in this day and age and economy!
And oh my...the panoramic sunroof is amazing!(Did I mention that the Kia Sorento is also assembled in the USA?)
I don't want to sound like a car salesman, but when I have an experience with a company that is nothing but great, I think it's important to share with other families. As a super-duper busy mother, constantly driving my kids or myself to here or there, a great vehicle is on the top of my list of priorities. (And I love the Sorento's 32 mpg highway-fuel performance!) It's also full of storage spaces for all of our junk, and we have a lot to bring with us.
And to enter for a chance to win an Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime Android Tablet, answer this question in the comments: What is the most unexpected feature of the Sorento for you?

I think the rear-camera display. I think every car should have one.
I was surprised at the 32 mpg...wow!
The most unexpected feature? ALL OF THEM! The fact that you get so many options for such a great price is phenomenal. We love our Kia Sedonna and will be getting a Sorento when it's time to replace our Chevy Blazer.
The panoramic sunroof - it's huge!
Love the rear-camera for safety but the infotainment is awesome. It would mean not carrying around my ipod or smart phone. Great feature!!
Hmm, the "push start" button would be unexpected for me! Sounds like a great car..enjoy!!! I drive a Ford Expedition but can see myself downsizing in the future. The Sorentos are beautiful!!!! Thanks for the chance to win!

The UVO infotainment system is packed with a lot of features. I didn't have a car for over 20 years while living in NYC, so now that I live somewhere else and pay more attention to cars, the safety and automated features really still surprise me.
the rear-camera display! how can that not be cool? that'll always come in handy (especially with my husband...shhh..!)
Definitely the price ... although the rear - camera display sounds awful handy!
The looks of this vehicle sold me and everything else is just icing making it a sweet deal with such a great price. So many amazing things in this vehicle
I think the most surprising thing was that it's assembled in the USA. That alone is a big selling point. Definitely going to be a consideration for our next vehicle.
It's been tweeted! https://twitter.com/NiksPortraits
The most surprising to me was that gas mileage. As a road traveler, that's very attractive.
Totally the rear camera display. Can not be safe enough especially with kids.
The rear camera display is a fantastic feature.
The rear camera display!
The camera display. I also worry about backing into one of my children and that piece of mind is definitely worthwhile!
I love the back up camera feature and the voice command jukebox! Want!
The rear camera and the cargo space look like awesome features for a crossover!!
The price! I would have expected it to be much more.

The cooled driver's side seat!
I love KIA!! And the price is what I I like most.
I would love the push button start with a Smart Key!

The biggest surprise is the 32 mpg.
My daughter has a Sorento and it's a great car. All the extra features are a plus and it rides great too.
The air conditioned seat, folding mirror, and the fact it's in the low 20000s. Thanks for the review and giveaway.

Great gas mileage! We love our giant SUV, but the low gas mileage is a killer. We definitely need efficiency like the Sorrento provides for our second car.
Im suprised at the 3rd row seating. I never would have thought it had that much seating
The sunroof and the overall style is amazing.
Definitely the rear-camera display. I think every car should have one

Ours is not great - 22 mpg :-(

The voice activated system is awesome. I would love to be able to just say what I'm looking for while I'm driving.
The unexpected feature is this vehicle has SMART KEY, thank you.

I have the 2012 Sorento and my favorite unexpected feature is the cold/air conditioned driver's seat. Followed closely by the heated steering wheel! One for summer, one for winter. Annie Doyle 14 @ gmail dot com
I like the rear camera
I like the voice commands. Keeping driving distractions to a minimum? Yes, please.
Also like that it's assembled in the US helping to create jobs!
Like the price, love the sportage, will be searching for a new vehicle in the next few months. Love the gas mileage!!

The most unexpected feature for me is the UVO infotainment system that is voice activated. It's nice to not be distracted by trying to push buttons on the radio. altern147 [at] yahoo [dot] com
I love the back up camera but the push starts is great and so unexpected in such a reasonably priced car.

I love my back up cam in my 2012 Kia Sorento. The feature I didn't expect was the fold away mirrors in the 2013! I wish I had that, can't tell you how many times I've almost knocked them off pulling into the garage!
The push button start!

The panoramic sunroof. It'd be great for watching storms and camping under the stars without worrying about bugs.
Love the rear camera display (duh who doesn't right? LOL) but I really appreciate that they are made in the USA. So many brands outsource this work to other countries when it's greatly needed here!
(BTW, I came to your article above the others because of the Kia Hamster reference, I LOVE that commercial, I figured your post would bring me luck!)
