Facing the World with Confidence (Review & Giveaway)

No matter what anyone says, we ALL like to look good. As we age, I do think we become less obsessed with our physical appearance as inner confidence increases and we just feel more content with what we were given in the looks department.

That said, confidence is a HUGE part of looking good! Sometimes the most plain looking person can come off as gorgeous if they have a confident attitude. When someone has that natural inner glow, suddenly we all want to get to know them better and be around them.

Later this fall I'm meeting up with a few friends I haven't seen in years. For some reason my very first thoughts after making the plans with them were: Oh my gosh, I need to look good! What if they think I aged badly? What  if they look amazing and I feel like an ugly country bumpkin next to them?

I think that's a really natural feeling to have when you know you're going to see people who knew you in your youth, when you were at your most radiant. I think that part of feeling confident and excited about how you look is preparing ahead. Makeup, hair and the perfect outfit all play their part.

So I was excited when I got the opportunity to review a new mascara from COVERGIRL. You may remember me talking about how I'm a HUGE mascara fan. I've been wearing it since I was in junior high and I have never EVER once missed a day of wearing it since. I love thick, dark lashes.

The mascara I reviewed is called :

COVERGIRL LashPerfection™

-Creates up to 3x the volume withi innovative micro-chambers brush
-provides a clump-free application (important to me because I put a lot on!)
-It lasts all day without messy flaking
-conditioning formula keeps lashes feeling soft and lifted
-Bristles precisely molded to wrap your lashes 360 degrees allowing more formula to coat each lash
-price: $5.99

The color I was sent is black-brown, which is not my usual choice (very black all the way baby!). It is available in Very Black, Black, Brown and Black Brown. Here's how it transformed my plain old brown lashes:

BEFORE: (Wearing only black eyeliner)

My opinion on this product:
-First thought that struck me as I applied is that the brush was harder than any I've used. I loved it! It really helped to lift my lashes. When a brush is too bendable, my lashes tend to pull down with the brush and I can't stand that. This brush is firm and the bristles really push them up.

-The brush really separated my lashes. No clumps whatsoever. My lashes really look quite long.

-I was so surprised that the black-brown color had the effect on my lashes that it did. Wow, they really popped! I can only imagine how good the dark black would look.

-My lashes do not feel like plastic. They actually feel somewhat soft, enough that I could apply two coats and not feel like I was running a rake through them. Great!

-The price is right. Very inexpensive!

-I am genuinely IMPRESSED. I am always very honest about what I think, and  COVERGIRL LashPerfection™ is a product I will go out and buy next time I shop mascara.  I tried to think of a "con" to write about it, but I really didn't find any.

Love this giveaway! The most significant event in my life where makeup boosted my confidence would definitely have to be my wedding. I have always worn makeup and am very good at using it, but for my wedding, I actually purchased professional quality makeup and watched countless tutorials on how to do proper wedding makeup, and I really think it paid off. I felt so flawless and gorgeous on my big day, which was really important to me.

I don't know if I've ever used makeup to add confidence (power from within ladies!), but I do love having long, dark sexy lashes to flash "the look" at my super cute hubs!

You're so pretty! I might have to try this based on your review, the brush sounds great!

I really LOVED the makeup on my wedding day, the only time I've had professionally done makeup. It made me feel so pretty and put me at ease since I had to take so many pictures that day.

I was the maid of honor in my sister's wedding & wasn't looking forward to tromping down the aisle before the bride & standing before all her guests. I was also not sure about my makeup b/c I hardly wear any & I knew she prefered more. She actually took time to do my makeup for me that day and I felt fabulous. Needless to say, we got through the day with only one hitch (har, har!).

Recently I had the biggest job interview of my life. I had the perfect outfit, but I'm not a good girl! Translated, that means, that I don't do "girly" things well, such as putting on makeup. I took the time to really play up my eyes and make sure my skin looked more confident than I felt. And you know what? Dressing professionally and taking the time to make my face look like the confident young teacher I am honestly did help.

I love makeup and I'm used to wearing it almost daily- it ALWAYS gives me a lot more added confidence by covering up imperfections and making my eyes pop!

Kristina said...

Thanks for the review! I've been using Great Lash forever.....You're such a pretty woman that I can't imagine you need much make up to look good.

Danyelle said...

I don't wear makeup regularly, but I feel like others take me more seriously when I do. I don't think I am actually treated any differently, but I act more assuredly and grown up wearing make-up.

I’m not a make up person and usually don’t wear any or have very light make ups on. When I attend my husband’s company dinner, I wanted to look my best for him and I put full make up on and I sure felt great and more confidence meeting his colleges for the first time. We both had a wonderful evening at the event.

I recently moved from Pensacola, FL to Santa Fe, NM--wow, talk about climate change! My poor hair was dry and fried looking after just a couple months. While I wad working to get my poor hair back in condition, makeup went a long way toward giving me a little confidence boost that I didn't look like a COMPLETE mess! :)

At my age, my makeup is minimal. I wear concealer, mascara and sometimes foundation. Even just this little bit, makes me feel better about myself.

Hi Tanya! Makeup has definitely given me an added boost of confidence during the times in my life where I feel the most vulnerable or insecure such as embarking on new careers. When I became a flight attendant at the young naive age of 19 makeup helped me feel my most confident being up in front of so many people, talking in public and telling people what to do for take offs and landings. I was really such a shaky girl finding my way in the world. Seven years later I find myself once again treading in new waters finding my way in the real estate world as a realtor. Makeup has once again given me the added boost I need to conquer a field where many agents and clients are older or more experienced in the buying/selling process. Makeup has helped me stand up a little taller and show everyone who I am and what I can do!
