I'm really excited to show you the pretty makeover on our breezeway/mudroom area. Rich did a great job with all that painting. We ran into some bumps along the way, but I'm really happy with the result. Here was the
BEFORE:
And here is the
AFTER:
Old Step:
New Step:
Old Bench:
New Bench (painted) I added baskets and placemats for a natural look.:
This wall before (on the left):
And After:
The bench with the pillows was a pathetic looking bootshelf from an old closet. It's still pathetic looking, but is covered in paint. The pillows are from Kohls (clearance $12.50/each). The baskets are lined with plastic for storage and were $5.99/each.
Rich painted the wall for a faux built-in look for the wall shelf. He built the shelf out of 3 pieces of lumber and some trim. The hooks were $4.50/each at Home Depot.
We painted the chalkboard and this little stand with the same color as the bench and coat rack. The frames were $4.99/each at a local discount shop and the prints inside were found at my favorite online graphics blog The Graphics Fairy.
We have to repaint the floor. The current paint is not adhering as we hoped. When we repaint, we'll probably do it in the same color as the step. Trial and Error!

Tanya,
I love what you two did with the mudroom! It looks so clean, bright, and stylish!!! And you did it so inexpensively :) Perfect.
We need to get excited about house projects here. Soon!
Your link party will be fun. Since I'm such a non-cook, there are photos from me.
It looks functional, cottagey, and beautiful!! Hats off to both of you for a very stylish, affordable makeover!
And it's so big!! Lucky you!

I love it! You have a wonderful size mudroom to work with.
The only space I have to work in a mudroom is in a room that is off the kitchen. We enter through it from the garage. It's technically the laundry room, but I'd like to make one wall storage. I'd like to do something with it soon, and you gave me some inspiration. Thank-you!
Wow! Nice job! I dream of having a mudroom. Someday...
Thanks so much everyone! I can't wait to do more projects this summer...
What is the upper wall color called, it's very nice!
I have a mudroom, but yours puts mine to shame!

I love it!
Oh my gosh - every house needs a room like this! It should be as mandatory as a kitchen or a bathroom if you ask me (moreso if you have kids with lots of STUFF!). What a great space - I'm a smitten kitten. :-)
That looks absolutely fabulous!! I feel like I'm looking at a magazine before and after :-)
Thanks so much for the compliments everyone!
LOVE the makeover! It looks FABULOUS!!!
I'll link up a project, if you link up to mine too :)
