To say that life has been hectic and crazy lately would be an understatement. "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" is way too often just the opposite because we all put so much pressure on to make sure the holidays are perfect. Did you ever notice that the more you prep, plan and buy, the bigger the let-down seems to be afterward? I don't know...the whole keeping it simple thing seems to make more sense to me.
Henry's birthday celebration was SO much fun, mostly because it was great to watch him interacting with everyone and rip open gifts and actually enjoy what is in them. It's amazing to watch your baby, who just months ago was helpless and immobile, fly around your house, batting at balloons, ripping open packages, hitting the dog with toys (naughty!), and kissing little girls who come to visit (and also scratching her face, pulling her hair and slapping her).
It's all so fascinating! Honestly, when you stop to think how much a human being learns in one year of life, it's baffling. You really realize what a gift they are to us.
Here are some various photos of his birthday celebration and also some that I took for our Christmas card this year (which I haven't sent out yet!). I pray you all have a beautiful holiday and that you remember to stop in the middle of it all, look at your loved ones as they go about around you, and smile at all you've been blessed with!
Oh and I tried a couple of new recipes for the party that were big hits! I will be sharing them right after the New Year. Bring on 2011!
