Living where we do, we don't really get to attend elegant parties with gourmet dishes, as much as I would love to. Instead we end up at backyard barbecues that are unrefined and as simple as can be. This "salad" fits right into that setting....and you know what? It's addicting and delicious!
Snickers Salad
1- 12 oz. tub Cool Whip, thawed
1 c. milk
1 large package french vanilla pudding mix, instant
1 bag of mini-snickers(or your favorite caramel-filled candy bars)
3 apples (Granny Smith are my choice)
Chop the snickers into small chunks. I dare you to do this without shoving a handful into your mouth:
In a mixing bowl, beat the milk and pudding mix for a few minutes, or until completely mixed and smooth. Fold in the cool whip with a spatula. Chunk up the apples into bite-sized pieces (I toss with a dash of lemon juice to keep from turning brown). Add the candy bars and apples to the cool whip mixture and fold them in:
Refrigerate for a couple of hours before serving. I like to add chocolate shavings to the top. I've never seen this go uneaten at a potluck...
The weather here has been terrible. Dismal, raining and snowing and wet and dreary. However, my mood has been lightened because a very dear friend of mine is coming from Washington to visit this week. She was my neighbor for several years and we became close. She is like a sister. Her son was in 6th grade when they moved, and now he is an 18 year old, 6'5" senior in HS! I can't wait to see them!
Oh, and I wanted to mention that if you love me lots, or even just like me, follow me on TWITTER or FACEBOOK.... ! :)

Frankly I think those are the best kind of gatherings anyway.
I've never heard of this before, but really how can ya go wrong with a Snickers??!!!!
Hope the weather improves for ya! It was supposed to storm down here but it just got muggy and humid...ugh... already...
I'd much rather go to a cookout than a fancy party. And that recipe sounds amazing. Definitely going to try it!
The first time I heard about this salad, I raised an eyebrow. Once I tried it, I became a fan for life. It's a regular at our house in the summer :)
This looks delicious, and even easy enough for me! Oh, and I am following you on both Facebook (networked blogs) and Twitter.
Hope all is well,
Linda

So is it okay to call it a salad because there are apples in it!? ;) Sounds and looks GREAT!
I have only made mine with the Snickers, the Cool Whip, the apples and some chocolate shavings. I will have to try with the pudding and milk and see what the consistancy turns out like
Now I understand when friends say they have been on a salad only diet and they failed to lose weight! I think this would be a great dessert as well. The apples would make it seem less sinful.
Backyard BBQ's are better than any fancy smanchy party for me. I love snickers salad it is so good. We are having up and down weather as well. Texas just cant make up its mind is it Spring or is is Winter? I am alredy following you on Twitter Ü.
Chocolate and apples - no better combo! Looks divine...simply divine.

Amazing! I will try the recipe next weekend~thank you.
Love your ideas and your blog.
I have seen this recipe many times and wondered about it. On your recommendation I must try it.
MMMMmmmmm I LOVE this salad!! Especially during the spring and summer. It is SO yummy!!
I'm going to try this one!!! Where I'm from, most 'salads' consist of jello or pudding....not too much green stuff!
I baked your Fudge Puddles a few days ago, too. FABULOUS! I linked your recipe in my blog - hope that's OK!
I love this recipe - MIL's best friend (Louise to her Thelma) makes this all the time for get togethers. I love a good BBQ or, even better, a bonfire and s'mores. I miss that - we used to do those all the time whne we lived in IA.
Be still my heart!!I am visiting from SITS and you will have to try hard to get me to leave ha ha!
Did you say Snickers, and Salad, so that means its healthy! LOL
xoxo,
Cathleen

I saw you over on SITS and thought I would come over and say hi.
This recipe looks like something my family would really enjoy. Thanks for sharing it.
I think I will try this for Easter. My Grandma Fitz use to always make a coolwhippy salad. I will make it in her honor.
Thanks Tanya,
Luanne
